(More customer reviews)I wanted to mount my 42" panasonic plasma on the wall but the reviews of articulating wall mounts left a lot to be desired. The reviews of articulating wall mounts talked about it being difficult to level the screen and control the tilt. I couldn't imagine the shear stresses in attaching to a wall and then pulling the tv away from the wall to rotate the screen. The stress on a wall mounting bracket and attachment system must be unbelievable. There was a 4-by ceiling joist about where I wanted to have the tv to rotate. This looked like a good solution. My son and I mounted it in about 20 minutes. It will take a little thinking and planning ahead of time. The instructions are not a great help. I did get some stainless steel lag bolts, just in case, but the lag bolts in the kit work. Use all four lag bolts to properly distribute the load. Because the bracket is 4 inches wide and my joist is 4 inches I used the four in line center mounting holes to reduce the chance that the lags would split the joist and pull out by mounting too close to the edge of the joist. The mount works great. It will take two to mount the tv in the mounting bracket. I needed to remove the two upper screws of the table stand so I could remove the table stand after mounting the tv on the ceiling mount. Leave the table stand on when you mount the tv because if you need to remove the tv for some bracket adjustments, the tv will not stand on its own and you will need someone else to hold the tv up. Setting the screen level is not a problem with this mount, though the tilt angle will change through its rotation because the weight of the tv changes the angle of the down tube as it rotates in the ceiling ceiling bracket. The down tube adjusts to the center of gravity of the tv on the tv mounting bracket. This is acceptable. The bracket allows the down tube to adjust to the pitch of roof by swinging about 30 degrees in one direction from perpendicular. Set the swing in the right direction. When the screen is not parallel to the joist the down tube will swing away from the tv and the tilt will change but the screen remains level. My fear of having the tv pull the mount out of the 4-by joist is slowly going away.
