(More customer reviews)This product is listed for certain models of flat screen TV's, but it would be very difficult to find any large model that it would not fit perfectly. The instructions are adequate but a few detail close up pictures would make it a snap, especially for the large array of optional hardware included, they need to be in groups because you will only use one length (4 screws) of each group.
There is one major reason to consider this mount and that is that the wall plate is sized for any spacing up to 24" stud spacing, others are for 16" center studs. If the studs in your wall occur off center, then you have to shift the TV off center on the attachment rails to place it in a balanced setting relative to your seating or decor. That's OK for a couple of inches but for 8" to keep it level requires tight hardware. It is a joy to make all the adjustments of installation with the set screws lose and not have the TV dropping to one side or the other every time you loosen them. The 24" wide mounting plate has several sets of slotted holes, you need at least 2 sets (4 screws), using more will share both the downward and pull-out load of the combined weight of the mount and the TV.
Only four 3.5" x 5/16" lag bolts are provided for mounting to wall studs, they provide a good solid grip to the studs. If you use the end 24" center holes the mount will compress to about 3.5" thick on the wall. If you use the holes closer to the center, the mounting arms will touch the heads of these lag screws and can add 1/2"~3/4" to the thickness when fully compressed against the wall. Drill no larger than 1/4" holes in the wall studs as the upper screws can have up to 1,000 pounds of outward pull from the leverage of a 100~200 pound TV when fully extended outward while you are dressing the cables and making adjustments. If you must use the holes near the center and thickness of the total mounting matters, consider buying lag screws with low profile heads like phillips or allen. If you strip a top hole or drill too large, replace them with 3/8" lag screws, these are critical.
Avoid at all cost using expansion anchors provided or of any type in a sheetrock wall, large tapcon's or driven expansion anchors into the solid area of concrete block walls is fine but are risky in the hollow areas, use toggle bolts there.
This is perhaps the best mount on the market for large heavy TVs but it requires very strong mounting. After it is mounted, before you hang a TV on it, extend it fully and swing in it!!!!!! Any movement or flexing in the wall mounting hardware or surface is sooner or later going to cost you a new TV. This mount is more expensive but think of coming home to find your flat screen TV smashed all over the floor---
