(More customer reviews)This television really does have a superior picture to most of what's out there. (unless you step up to a good quality plasma screen). The only issue I've had is with one corner of the set that gets some weird colors once in awhile. From what I was told, this occurs because of the sensitivity of the set to the magnetic north and that if I turned the set, the problem would likely go away. Besides that, dvds look perfect, and playstation 2 games are great looking on this set.

(More customer reviews)I bought this TV 1.5 years ago. I thought it was great for the first few months, then I gradually noticed that the picture just didn't seem as clear anymore. Now when I watch my digital cable, I can't even read small text on the screen because it is so blurry. Same thing for DVDs...forget about reading subtitles! It's very annoying and frustrating.
I'm not sure what exactly is wrong with it, but I am certainly NOT happy with my TV now. I contemplated buying the Sony WEGA model, but opted not too because of the price increase. Now I see it probably would have been worth it. No more Phillips products for me.
One other con, the TV is HUGE and HEAVY It's so awkward to carry, I almost killed myself moving it last summer.

(More customer reviews)I bought this TV a year ago and I love it and would get it today if I could. Picture is as good as plasma if not better. It is a 4:3 ratio, but you should just ask yourself what you watch more of TV or Movies. Right now the HD media that is coming out is getting to be everywhere. 5 NFL games on Sunday. 4-5 Xbox games in HD. HBO in HD, ESPN in HD, Discovery in HD, Prime time TV for the most part in HD. The picture has so much color and detail it is like night and day. Like putting black and white up against color and this TV is a great product to showcase that. Only knock on it is it ways 300 lbs so the stand (which has bevel edges) is recommended on carpet. With the stand anyone could move it anyplace in the room with ease. Great Buy!

(More customer reviews)The reason I wanted to get the X-Arm is because it is motorized and I can adjust my TV with my remote. My TV is over my fireplace in a cathedral ceiling sunken great room with a lot of windows. Due to the layout of our furniture, sun glare, and how many people might be watching TV at any one time, I find myself adjusting the TV a lot or closing the blinds. I had a traditional articulating mount, but it is a pain to stand up and adjust it nearly twice a day and even a bit dangerous for my wife because at 5'6' she can barely reach it, let alone my kids. I also didn't like the fact that I had to grip my TV to adjust it. I also love that when you turn the TV off it goes nearly flush against the wall which looks much better when the TV is off.
I don't mind paying a bit more for the convenience of a remote controllable motorized mount. And the price is not that different from a normal articulating mount which is basically just a piece of aluminum or steel without all the electronic gadgetry and engineering of the X-Arm.

(More customer reviews)I have always been impressed by Toshiba's televisions, and this one is no exception. I purchased this TV last week, and I am thoroughly satisfied with my purchase. The picture looks great (especially DVDs through the component video inputs), the sound is way above average for a TV in this range, and the features are equal to what you'd find on pricier brands. Basically, Toshiba gives you the quality you want but without the huge pricetag. One thing made me sad though: only one set of Component Video inputs. So if you want that high quality Xbox experience in addition to DVDs, you'll have to switch it through your receiver (which is what I do). Anyway, great TV and great price.

Sanus VMDD26B Articulating Wall Mount for 42" to 63" Displays (Black) Review

(More customer reviews)After being completely dissatisfied with the wobbly tabletop stand for my 55" Hitachi 55HDS69 plasma, I began looking for a wall mount. Having bought furniture made by Sanus Systems in the past and being 100% satisfied with it, I opted for this mount (in silver). Amazon had the best price by far. This mount is beautiful and extremely heavy duty. Mounting is straight forward and the adjustments are limitless. Moving the plasma (130lbs) is effortless with this mount. The silver model has a glossy finish to it that is impressive for a tv mount. I can push the plasma completely against the wall if desired - great for parties, etc. Although several screw sizes are included, I found the screws that Hitachi already included made the best fit. You WILL need someone to help you pick up the tv/mount assembly for final installation. Basically you bolt the plate to the wall, install the mount to the tv and hang the mount/tv on the bracket. This mount is very heavy (60+lbs) and super sturdy. My wife was even impressed. I will not hesitate to purchase another one if there is a need. I would definitely go with this larger Sanus mount if you have a TV larger than 50". There are lcoking brackets that can be tightened to hold the TV position static - or they can be left loose so the TV can be moved when needed. What more can I say, it's a TV mount that is beautifully constructed. There is an optional center channel speaker bracket you can buy for it also.

Sony used to make great, long-lasting products, but it seems like they've lost it lately. Conversations with tv-guys made me think that I needed to pony up for a 1080, but I just could not justify the premium over the 720p. Now that I have it, I am glad I saved my money. The picture quality is great, both in high def and for normal (low def?) viewing. Whenever I have guests and the TV is on, they are blown away by the quality and ask my questions about it.
I also like the anti-glare screen. At first I was a little concerned that the anti-glare picture would look "dull" compared to your average plasma, but that is no longer a concern - it looks great.
Another big plus for me was the appearance of the TV. Like other Panasonic models, this TV is sleek. Vizio and other manufacturers seem to incorporate larger speakers that look clunky in comparison. The size of the tv relative to the picture size is great - looks nice on the wall, and doesn't take up any more room than it needs to.
In fact, the reason why I am writing this review is because I am going to buy another one for a different room in the house. Panasonic has definitely won my repeat business with this one - I think that says it all.

(More customer reviews)From reading AVS forum I was ready to pull the trigger on a Panasonic G10. Then went to Best Buy to see them in person and this thing was just so much nicer in every way. I'm sorry Panny fanboys but the picture on the current models just looks dingy. The older ones were much nicer. Maybe they made too many compromises for the "eco" thing. And WAY reflective. Anyway, the Samsung came today, no more calibration that setting it to "movie" mode (will wait til after break-in for that). Watching a show about quasars & pulsars on DirecTV HD Channel (720p) and we are saying "whoo" and "wow" just like watching fireworks. The colors are vivid, but not harsh (like LCD's can be). No banding, jaggies. Incredibly detailed, but smooooth. It's just amazing. Flesh tones so natural it's like you're looking at a real person. This replaced a calibrated Samsung 56" DLP, which I preferred to anything I'd ever seen before (had it's caveats but LCD RPTVs were positively hazy at that time so I went with DLP since the rainbow thing was rare and didn't bother me - kind of pretty actually.) But this just blows it away. It's like the fog has lifted. Hot? Yes, it's putting off some heat; but I live in a cold climate (SF) so no big deal. Buzzing? If you put your ear right next to it (the hard drive in my DVR is way louder) but then I'm essentially at sea level, supposedly higher altitudes worsen that. Reflections? Yes, but nowhere as bad as CRT or (ahem) the current generation of MacBooks. It's glossy but subdued. For the first time I have an in-home viewing experience superior to a movie theatre. Just can't emphasize how natural the picture is. I hope Samsung & Panasonic will continue this technology. I love LCD TV for the kitchen, it's fine for watching the news, and great on the computer for static images, but this is a true videophile experience. Like MP3's (which sound great) vs full uncompressed quality digital sound. I can see how (especially sports oriented viewers) might prefer LCD - it's bright, sharp, vivid (especially if you're looking straight on - not so great off center). But if you want to see subtlety in light, shadow, cinematography - this new tech plasma is the way to go. Maybe the key is you need a technology where the pixels are producing their own light. The last time a picture was so smooth, natural, detailed to my eye were the last generation of Sony CRT Trinitron Wega sets. Perhaps OLED will be the next step up but I'm very happy with this. And Amazon's price, white-glove delivery, return policy can't be beat.The guys from Pilot unboxed it and made sure it was working before they left. Hauled it up 2 flights of stairs. I can't believe this marvel of technology was cheaper than a decent laptop.

The "horizontal" adjustment is linear, in other words it moves lateraly from side to side rather than rotates. But, this is a good feature if you have to locate studs to get a proper mount. You can adjust the mount to hit the studs by the many mounting holes and then move the screen to adjust to the center. Also, the package of bolts for connecting the flat screen should be tested in the flat screen mounting holes to make sure that you have the right bolts.

After owning this set for four months, I am astonished at how BAD other televisions look. When my friend bought a 32 inch WEGA (non XBR) and had us over to take a look, I was appalled by the overdriven picture, extensive red push and large gap between scan lines. It was like watching television through a set of venetian blinds. The same with another friend's Toshiba flat tube set.
Further, if you're a gadget-type person. you'll appreciate the fantastically in-depth service menu. Every conceivable internal setting of the television can be accessed through the remote. We have dropped the red push altogether and the picture is considerably more pleasing than when the set was new.
Finally, the resolution of the picture tube is so much better than standard televisions that flaws, edits, and manipulations in NTSC sources can easily be detected with the naked eye. This could be a turn-off for some casual owners; other television sets are too blurry and inaccurate to reveal the flaws in a broadcast. Not the XBR! With this set, the difference between high quality and inferior broadcasts is as plain as day.
To sum up, this television is superior in every way. In fact, its superiority makes some common NTSC programming look pretty bad. Some owners won't like it, preferring to hide the flaws in the signal by watching through an inferior set.

(More customer reviews)This is a great TV by means of picture quality. Component input is superb. S-Video is really good also. I only have a few complaints though. There is no option to adjust the treble or bass for the audio. Also there is no audio out so you cant hook up a stereo or other speakers. Also when the screen is almost all white such as watching a hockey game you can see two pink shades of colored lines about 3-4 inches thick running vertical on the left and right side of the screen, which is probably the speaker's(built in the tv) magnetic field causing that. Other than the few complaints the tv is really nice. Thats why I give it 4 of 5!

The visually flat FD Trintron tube minimizes annoying glare from light sources, enhancing contrast, and corner-to-corner detail is rendered more accurately because images aren't distorted by a curved screen. It features both built-in analog and digital tuners, which enables you to receive digital ATSC programming via terrestrial signals (over-the-air) for watching highly detailed HD broadcasts.
You'll get great picture reproduction from compatible cable/satellite set-top boxes and DVD players using the three-jack component video (Y/Pb/Pr) inputs, which provides separate connections for luminance (Y), blue color difference (PB) and red color difference (PR). (More customer reviews)After buying an Olevia 32" LCD TV, I purchased this Samsung HLP5663W for the study for cinema-style home theatre viewing. This unit does the job quite well. Both of the aforementioned are great products. Color, brightness, contrast are very good, although an LCD or plasma screen would deliver better brightness. Out of the box the Samsung performed admirably; I haven't even needed to fiddle with any of the color/tone settings. I'll need one of the DVD color-testing kits to do that, but so far my eyes tell me everything is fine. I got the extended warranty for a marginal cost just in case the color-wheel optics or lamp fails. This unit provides HDMI/DVI and 2 component ports for just about any HDTV/DVD connections. Maximum resolution is 1080i, not 1080p, which Samsung will deliver in new models coming out in June, but at $500-$1000 more. Can't wait to get the Cablevision digital box to receive HDTV through the DVI port. ExtremeTech rated this TV an 8! I matched this TV with an LG DVT418 600 watt tower DVD/home theatre system providing great surround sound. I also bought the matching TR63 stand from Amazon, which has the lowest price with $10 shipping, amazing.

(More customer reviews)Contrary to popular opinion, you don't have to buy an expensive plasma or LCD (liquid crystal display) TV to get a great high-definition picure. In fact, many experts (including Consumer Reports) assert that high-definition TVs using traditional cathode-ray tube technology -- as this high-definition Sony does -- currently offer a sharper picture than plasma and LCD TVs, plus they are much less expensive and more reliable. This widescreen HD Sony TV has a very good picture with standard broadcasts and an outstanding picture with HD broadcasts and DVDs. If you'd like to get a widescreen high-definition TV now but your budget is limited to a thousand dollars or so, please consider this 30" Sony.

(More customer reviews)I bought this for my 32" LCD. it holds the TV up quite well, nice and sturdy. All the hardware that you need to mount it and the TV are included. The only complaint that I have is the part that bolts to the wall. It takes 3 screws on the top and 3 on the bottom in a triangular pattern. The 2 outer bolts are too far apart and had to be put in at an angle so they would hit the stud.
