(More customer reviews)I couldn't be happier with a TV. I was going to spend the extra [money] for a flat screen HDTV; however, I couldn't really see too much of a difference between this TV and an HDTV. I recommend this TV to anyone.

This flat-screen powerhouse provides a bright, crystal-clear picture, great sound right out of the set itself, and the sense of well-being that comes with owning a big, solidly built, high-end television.
Video Features The Toshiba 36AF41 36" stereo television features Toshiba's FST Pure Fine Pitch Flat Picture Tube, which provides a clear, sharp picture and reduces the glare normally associated with curved-screen sets. Its three-line digital comb filter also enhances resolution by removing the blurred edges between colors and reducing dot crawl. Toshiba includes its heat-resistant Invar Shadow Mask technology, which prevents picture discoloration that often results from overheating. This allows the set to work at a higher voltage, producing brighter whites and improved color and contrast. This set also features Dynamic Quadruple Focus--for better-controlled picture tube rays that produce a crystal-clear picture equally across the entire screen--and Advanced Velocity Scan Modulation, which improves dark to light transitions, contrast, and overall picture sharpness.
Audio Features The 36AF41 is designed to provide maximal stereo sound reproduction from its internal speaker system with no additional speakers connected via Toshiba's side-mounted, front-firing Double Baffle speaker design. This unit also features surround sound capabilities and SBS (Sub Bass System), which provides a noticeable boost to the unit's low-frequency sound reproduction, lending greater general audio presence. This television also features MTS stereo with SAP (second language decoding) and includes a rear S-video input, two rear A/V inputs and a front panel A/V input, and A/V outputs.
Other Features A Glow universal remote, built-in V-Chip parental control, noise muting, and a favorite channel feature are standard features of this set.

(More customer reviews)I bought this TV a year ago and I love it and would get it today if I could. Picture is as good as plasma if not better. It is a 4:3 ratio, but you should just ask yourself what you watch more of TV or Movies. Right now the HD media that is coming out is getting to be everywhere. 5 NFL games on Sunday. 4-5 Xbox games in HD. HBO in HD, ESPN in HD, Discovery in HD, Prime time TV for the most part in HD. The picture has so much color and detail it is like night and day. Like putting black and white up against color and this TV is a great product to showcase that. Only knock on it is it ways 300 lbs so the stand (which has bevel edges) is recommended on carpet. With the stand anyone could move it anyplace in the room with ease. Great Buy!

(More customer reviews)I can still remember the jump from a SDTV to this HDTV "without a tuner". This TV might not be the highest resolution, but it is a great buy. I remember hooking my Tivo system to it, and the picture was so much better, without any HDTV programming. For games, it's great. You can adjust the color and video noise reduction if you have several things hooked up to your television. I just bought a Nintendo Wii, along with HDTV cables. The games look really good on this TV. I approve this buy. The only reason it doesn't get five stars is because of the lack of resolution sizes.
