(More customer reviews)I bought this TV a year ago and I love it and would get it today if I could. Picture is as good as plasma if not better. It is a 4:3 ratio, but you should just ask yourself what you watch more of TV or Movies. Right now the HD media that is coming out is getting to be everywhere. 5 NFL games on Sunday. 4-5 Xbox games in HD. HBO in HD, ESPN in HD, Discovery in HD, Prime time TV for the most part in HD. The picture has so much color and detail it is like night and day. Like putting black and white up against color and this TV is a great product to showcase that. Only knock on it is it ways 300 lbs so the stand (which has bevel edges) is recommended on carpet. With the stand anyone could move it anyplace in the room with ease. Great Buy!

(More customer reviews)There are such a range of prices to be found for these types of cables out there that I think most users can get easily confused. The retail world does not help the situation much. Whats worse, the old logic from the speaker wires and other component connections are being translated into the HDMI cable world - incorrectly!
The bottom line is that any time you get a digital signal coming across a wire, as long as the signal gets where it is going, you are going to get a great quality picture. In the old days of cables having to carry an analog signal, the argument could be made that high quality, gold plated cables would make things "Better".
The folks at a major retailer are not likely to give you the real skinny here. They may not really be aware of the real deal. Now, in this case, I chose to put my money where my mouth is. I purchased two cables from my local electronics store (think blue shirts) and bought one $99 HDMI cable and one $49 HDMI cable. I was assured by the retailer that I could return these cables if the did not pass muster. I also bought this cable from Amazon for a bargain price.
I rotated all the cables through duty over the course of a few weeks. Each got a turn being the method of connection between my Samsung 8500 55" LCD HD and the following devices:
- DirecTV HD with DVR
- Sony Playstation 3 serving as game system, Netflix Player and Blu-Ray player
In several cases, I would even watch a portion of a movie, swap out the cables and continue on. I was not able to see any difference in the quality of what was presented.
If you have a bad HDMI cable, it is not going to be like it was back in the good old days. There will not be a partial picture with static, etc. With digital, you get a picture, or you don't. Quality may play into it with you getting strange big blocky artifacts on your screen with a really stinky cable, but even that argument has been dismissed by folks who really know what is going on with a digital signal.
So the bottom line is that you do not need to blow all your happy time money on some overpriced HDMI cable. So order up these less expensive beauties, enjoy the picture and sound and then take the family out for a high priced dinner... cuz after buying 3 of these cables for your system, you have probably just saved yourself about $170 bucks in cable costs with no loss in quality!

Very easy to install (if you know how to use tools that is). Its very sturdy. Absolutely love having my 46" hung with cables running through the wall! Would recommend this mount to anyone.

The bolts included were to short for my 42" panasonic plasma. Easily found at Home Depot though. I recommend this product.

(More customer reviews)It arrived this afternoon. We took it out of the box, laid everything out and read the instructions. We wasted about 45 minutes before going to the computer and watching the installation video. I strongly suggest you watch the video on the product page before attempting the installation. It makes it SO MUCH easier to do. We were making it too difficult - it isn't. The stud finder worked quite well - assembly of parts was easy and there are so many extra parts, which is greatly appreciated because you never know if you will change out tv sizes in the future, etc.
We installed a 42" Honeywell flat screen tv. We used the fixed arms and added one extension arm to each fixed arm and neither the video or the written instruction say to do this, but we did for a little added extra security. After one was secured to the other, we used an extra bolt cross-ways. That seemed to stabilize them even more. You certainly will have extras to use.
I would suggest after attaching the cable and other connections to the tv - BEFORE putting it on the wall mount - turn it on and make sure everything is working correctly. It is a lot easier to change out the cables BEFORE it is on the wall and it has to be taken down again.
You will need a drill, 3mm drill bit, 12mm drill bit masonry, a hammer, a pencil and a Philips screwdriver to install the unit. The built-in bubble level is wonderful!
I love the way the television looks on the wall!
AND, just as important as the ease of installation is the Amazon price. We looked at units twice the price and higher and honestly, you could not tell the difference EVEN IF YOU COULD SEE IT, which you can't. This is a good-looking wall mount.
This is a GREAT deal! I would highly recommend it.

(More customer reviews)Ordered mount from website specifically for an Olevia 37" flat screen LCDTV. Received mount was a generic, one size fits all model. Item came with a large bag of assorted screws, spacers, washers. Was only able to utilize 4 of 6 mount sites on TV. Mount was definitly not designed for this Olevia 37". Later, decided to upgrade to a Proscan 47" flat screen LCDTV that weighed 22 lbs more and the same mount fits and works perfectly. Had to use the attachment screws from the tv stand on the mount though. Nothing in the bag of screws fit w/o cutting or using plastic spacers. Ultimately, this a sound and well made mount. Just make sure your tv fits it.

For that purpose it was way better than paying $60 at Best Buy or one of the other big stores. The only downside is that the TV sticks out somewhat far, but if you're really worried about that then get one of the new LED televisions...

(More customer reviews)I purchased this unit because I have a space in a cabinet that's less than 36" wide and this is one of the few 37" TVs that will fit. There are some problems which I find annoying but some people may not notice or care about. Sometimes there the audio and video are not in sync. The audio leads the video by a fraction of a second. It happens about 20% of the time. Sometimes the set reboots itself, going black and then displaying the VISIO logo before restoring the picture. This is very infrequent, but it does happen occasionally. The response to the remote in some cases is slow. For example, unmuting takes a significant fraction of a second. There are other less bothersome issues too. I called VISIO tech support and they said they weren't familiar with these problems and had me do a full reset which had no effect. I exchanged the unit I bought for a second and it had the same problems. Then I read a review by someone else complaining about the same problems (and others). The set has great specs and the picture seems to be just fine and that's most important. I would really prefer to replace this unit with another brand, but there are no reasonably priced 37" sets on the market at this time that will fit.
Update (1/18/11): I ended up getting the Samsung LN37C530 (one of the few others that fits in my cabinet). I ended up spending about $600 for a TV that's only 60Hz and would not have done that if I didn't have to. The Samsung has none of the sync or volume issues that the VISIO did with the exact same inputs.
Some other observations: one gripe I had with the VISIO was slow tuning on broadcast signals. The Samsung tunes much faster, but the VISIO was able to do a better job of locking on to weak signals. I surf a lot, so prefer faster tuning. I had to tweak the Samsung picture to get it to my liking and I don't think it's as good as the VISIO (not a refresh issue; I can't say I notice that). One big advantage of the Samsung is that it creates a program guide from the broadcast signals that's very handy. In sum, I could not live with the VISIO issues and am definitely happier with the Samsung despite its higher cost, lower specs, and its own quirks.
