This review will talk about several things that can be seen in the customer pictures I uploaded.
This review is very long. The instructions included with the wall mount are exceedingly skimpy. I want to provide as much detail as possible, including the measurements I made to install the wall mount.
I highly recommend this mount. It is the best priced mount for the capabilities it provides and is very sturdy. The only problem is the difficulty in mounting it (given the lack of instructions) - which I hope I address with this review.
Today, I mounted my 55 inch LCD TV using the Diamond PLA W6060 Articulating Wall Mount. I was concerned about this mount given its low price compared to other wall mounts. I decided to give it a try since I could get it via Amazon Prime (free return shipping if I didn't like it). I love this mount. It is a very sturdy wall mount. It swivels left and right and tilts up and down (both of which I'm currently using and I absolutely need the tilt since I mounted my TV as close to the ceiling as possible).
Upon delivery, the box was ripped and partially open. Within the box, there was the wall bracket, two folding arms, an angle plate (allows for tilt and swivel), the matched plate, two fixed plates, three boxes each containing several plastic covers, and several bags containing miscellaneous piece parts. Also, there was a single sheet of 8.5" x 14" paper that provided the extent of the installation instructions. See the picture of page 1 of installation instructions I uploaded. Page 1 is simply an exploded parts diagram. However, from this you can determine how to assemble the mount. Page 2 (see uploaded picture) provides a parts list of the different TV mounting screws provided for the different VESA mounts used by various TVs.
The TV mounting screws attach the "fixed plate" to your TV. These screws must be the proper length. A screw that is too short may not hold the TV firmly enough. A screw that is too long may damage your TV (as my TV's manual warned about). So, the first thing I did was determine if the included screws would work. My TVs manual said I needed to use the plastic spacer provided with the TV for wall mount installations. However, using that spacer and the screws provided with the mount would not work. The plastic spacer and the longer screws provided with the mount did work (see uploaded picture showing the TV screw penetration). The small screw in the picture was taken out of the TV to compare to the wall mount screw. The exposed length of both screws are the same, therefore, I knew the screws and plastic spacers provided with the wall mount would not damage my TV. Also, I compared the diameter of the plastic spacer provided with my TV to the one which came with the wall mount to make sure the plastic spacer was acceptable. At this point, I attached one "fixed plate" to my TV (see uploaded picture).
Next, on the floor, I loosely assembled the entire mount (except for the one "fixed plate" already mounted to my TV). The folding arms were very tight so I loosened them so they would allow the TV to move easily away from the wall once mounting was complete (see uploaded picture). A half turn counter-clockwise of the bolts on the top and bottom of the folding arms loosened the folding arms enough so the TV moves fairly easily toward and away from the wall. Once the tilt is set, the bolts that allow the tilt to be adjusted must be tightened. I set the tilt (as would be expected) after the TV was mounted on the wall.
Next, I had to determine where on the wall the "Wall Bracket" needed to be positioned. As I said, I wanted the TV as close to the ceiling as possible. I mounted the fixed plates onto the TV and pulled them as high as they would go before tightening. This was to allow some upward adjustment of the TV once on the wall to allow moving the TV closer to the ceiling or adjusting twist (in case the TV was not level after mounting). I measured the top edge of the TV to the top edge of the fixed plate (in my case, 6.5"), the top edge of the fixed plate to the bottom row of mounting holes of the wall plate (15.25" should work for everyone), and then left 0.75 inch of space to allow room to hang the TV (I should have left one inch). I put the bottom row of screws a total of 22.5" down from the ceiling (It should have been 22.75"). I made my measurements from the ceiling, using a stud finder to locate the studs, and marked where the lower screws needed to be put into the wall. I have 16" on center studs, and luckily, mounting to the two studs placed the wall bracket only 0.5" left of the center for the wall. The matched plate allows for several inches of left/right movement of the TV (at least for my 55" TV). I then made sure the marks for the screw holes were perfectly level (used a level and my wife's eye - she tends to be more accurate than a 4 foot level). I then marked the holes for the upper screws (3 and 7/8" above the lower screws). I used a nail and hammer to make sure the screw marks were centered on the studs and then drilled the pilot holes using a 13/64 drill bit (the directions do not tell you what size to use).
I detached the wall plate from the rest of the mount to make it easier to attach to the wall. I mounted the wall bracket and again used a level and my wife's eye to make sure it was perfectly level and tightened all of the screws into the wall studs. I then attached the rest of the wall mount to the wall bracket.
For those who care, I uploaded a picture that shows the minimum distance the TV will be away from the wall. For my TV which needed to use the plastic spacers provided with the wall mount - the minimum distance from the wall is 5.5".
I then attached the other "fixed plate" to the TV. My wife and I then lifted the TV to attach to the mount. Guess what, I didn't leave enough room from the ceiling. I needed about 1/8" more room. Luckily, by tilting the matched plate, we were able to get the TV onto the wall mount. I then, loosely, put the nuts that lock the "fixed plate" onto the matched plate, pushed the TV as close to the wall as it would go, and moved the TV left/right on the matched plate to center the TV on the wall. I tightened the nuts to lock the fixed plates so the TV would not shift left/right. Guess what, the TV is perfectly level. I was afraid the weight of the TV would cause one side to sag - but it didn't.
Currently the TV is mounted so that the right edge of the TV is about 3 feet from the wall and the left edge is next to the wall (i.e. angled left) and tilted down about 10 degrees. Once we finish moving furniture, the TV will be flat (all be it 5.5" away) against the wall.
My wife and I didn't like the plastic corner covers so we didn't attach them. However, I did upload a picture that shows the plastic cable guides (with the TV's power cable running through them) and a clip that shows what the corners would look like if we did use the plastic corner covers. It is a good thing we didn't want to use the corner covers since two were missing (a total of 12 pieces, 2 per corner and 3 corners per folding arm, are supposed to be included).
Tools needed: #2 Phillips screw driver (for TV VESA screws), adjustable wrench, 9/16 socket wrench, ½ socket wrench, drill with 13/64 bit, level, stud finder, nail and hammer used to verify that I located the center of the wall studs.
Final pictures uploaded: picture of "wall bracket" and picture of wall mount screws (I used 4 with 4 washers screwed into wall studs) - anchors are provided in case you need to mount into drywall instead of wall studs (I'd go for the studs or use toggle bolts if only mounting into drywall).

NOT THAT BAD, BUT THIS TV SAT IN A WAREHOUSE FOR OVER 3 DAYS, BEFORE I FINALLY STARTED CALLING AND COMPLAINING ABOUT THE DELIVERY TIME. THE DELIVERY TIME HAD BEEN "PUSHED BACK" TWICE. I WAS TOLD THAT THE TRAVEL TIME WAS OVER 5 HOURS ONE WAY FROM THE WAREHOUSE TO MY HOME AND THEY WERE WAITING FOR MORE ORDERS TO COME AVAILABLE IN MY AREA BEFORE THEY MADE THE 10 HOUR ROUND TRIP. (THEY DIDN'T WANT TO MAKE THE TRIP FOR JUST ME, ALTHOUGH NOBODY SEEMED TO MIND TAKING MY $200 DOLLARS FOR DELIVERY FEE.) I AM PLEASED WITH THE TV I RECEIVED. I DID FIRST WHAT EVERYONE SAYS TO DO. I BOUGHT ONE LOCALLY. IT HAD SOUND PROBLEMS, WAS MORE MONEY, AND IN THE END, IT WAS RETURNED. I BOUGHT THIS TV VIA AMAZON FOR $400 DOLLARS LESS THAN I PAID FOR THE OTHER ONE. 1. IT IS JUST A MONITOR, IT HAS NO CABLE TUNER IN IT, MEANING YOU MUST HAVE A CABLE BOX, TIVO, VCR, ECT, TO CHANGE YOUR CHANNELS FOR YOU.
2. IT DOES HAVE SPEAKERS IN IT, HOWEVER, YOU WILL FIND THEM VERY CHEAP SOUNDING, MY COMPUTER SPEAKERS SEEM TO BE OF BETTER QUALITY. THIS IS NOT A JOKE, AND I AM NOT KIDDING, IF YOU DON'T HAVE SOME TYPE OF STEREO SYSTEM, LIKE SURROUND SOUND TO HOOK UP TO, YOU WILL NOT BE AMAZED WITH THE SOUND. THE SPEAKERS ARE OF VERY BAD QUALITY. ALTHOUGH I KNEW THIS BEFORE I BOUGHT ONE.
3. THE VIDEO QUALITY IS ACTUALLY REALLY GOOD, I CANNOT FIND ANYTHING TO COMPLAIN ABOUT HERE, THE COLOR IS GREAT, NO GHOST IMAGES, WHAT ELSE CAN I SAY.
4. THIS TV HAS AN S-VIDEO #2 HOOK UP ON THE SIDE, PLUS THE SOUND HOOK UP IS THERE AS WELL. MAKING CONNECTION OF KIDS GAMING EQUIPMENT, VIDEO CAMERAS, ECT A SNAP. THE TV I HAD BEFORE WAS UNDERNEATH THE BOTTOM, I PRACTICALLY HAD TO STAND ON MY HEAD CONNECT THINGS.
5. THE DELIVERY PERSON WHO ACTUALLY DELIVERED THIS TV WAS OUTSTANDING. HE BROUGHT IT INTO MY HOME, UNPACKED IT, AND WAITED UNTIL I TESTED THE TV BEFORE LEAVING. THEN HE TOOK ALL THE PACKAGING WITH HIM. (YOU KNOW HOW HARD PACKAGING IS TO GET RID OF WITH ALL THE FOAM, PAPER, PLASTIC, AND CARDBOARD.) YOU DON'T HAVE TO WORRY ABOUT IT.
5. I AM GIVING A 4 STAR REVIEW DUE TO THE CHEAP SPEAKERS AND BULKY REMOTE THAT CANNOT BE USED TO CHANGE CHANNELS.

IN THE END I HAVE THIS TV HOOKED TO MY TIVO AND SURROUND SOUND, I AM EXTREMELY PLEASED WITH THE PURCHASE FOR THE MONEY, AND WOULDN'T HESITATE TO PURCHASE ANOTHER ONE IF NEEDED. SEARS SELLS THE IDENTICAL TV FOR OVER $400 MORE. THEY WILL NOT PRICE MATCH, I TRIED. THANKS FOR READING MY REVIEW.

PDR Mounts PDR3760T Tilt Wall Mount for 37" to 60" Displays (Black) Review

(More customer reviews)I finally took the plunge to by a new HD TV. I decided on the Samsung LNT4065F 40" 1080p LCD HDTV (~35 pounds). I bought this mount because I have to locate the TV above my existing desk, so I needed the ability to either have it against the wall, or extended out in front of the desk. Installation was a breeze, I did it myself although you should really have two people (one to hold the mount, the other to screw the lag bolt in the stud). I was able to find the manual for this online before I bought it to verify all the dimensions.
PDR Mounts actually received my rebate form and actually called me to see if I was happy with the product. This is a refreshing difference from most rebate forms! Usually most companies may or may not send you a check back and I've never got a call back before. PDR went above and beyond most companies in this respect.
Minor (very minor) annoyance: When I went to level it, I found that the front mounting bracket frame was maybe 2-5 degrees tilted vs. the wall mount piece. So I ended up leveling in in reference to the front mounting bracket instead of the wall mount piece so the TV is perfectly level now.

I just received the rebate check. This is amazing, since I received in just about 2 weeks. Never received a rebate so fast.

(More customer reviews)I purchased this mount because I wanted the flexibility to position my new flat panel away from the wall at different angles and distances. I had seen a couple of others but was wary of the way they attached to the wall with just a single vertical bar. This one comes with a boilerplate quality rectangular plate that mounts with 4 large screws. There are plenty of screw holes to allow for variations in stud spacing. It is highly recommended that you have it professionally mounted, but since that can cost as much as the price of the mount itself, and I'm handy with stuff like this, I did it myself with a little help from two others. The biggest potential problem was mounting the wall plate level, because the the arm attaches to the hardware on the flat panel with just one screw and the slightest tilt could send the panel careening into the wall, especially if the arm is extended. You can tilt the mounting point where the TV is attached, but don't think that this will compensate for poor leveling. So if you get pro installation, make sure that they get it absolutely level, even if it doesn't look that way (your ceiling or floor may not be true level). If you mount it yourself, the biggest risk is dropping your TV or getting a hernia trying to hang it on the wall plate. Instead of mounting the TV with the arm attached (per the directions), consider mounting it with the arm attached to the wall plate instead. I followed the directions, and it was scary. Also, you may find the bolts provided for the TV hardware to be either too short or too long. That was my situation, so I sawed the ends off the long bolts rather than use the short ones.
The result overall is very good. The ability to bring the set a little closer to the viewer or have it against the wall helps to find the best viewing distance, which is tricky with a big screen. If you're a neatnik, this also makes cleaning behind the panel easy. Overall I would give it a 5, but the balance of the TV could be better engineered, with some rachets or locking points to prevent the set from swinging one way or the other. The only controls provided are just tightening down screws, which don't handle the weight well unless it is perfectly balanced. In practice, you may want to avoid extending the TV all the way from the wall for that reason. When I do extend it, I hold it in place for a moment and then take my hands off, seeing if it is going swing back into the wall. I suspect minor adjustments may be needed for a while to get the balance just right.

Vizio VX32L LCD HD TV - 32" Review

(More customer reviews)I say don;t pay over $600.00 because right now, 7-19-07 you can find this set ranging between $569-$799, and surfing can save you a lot of $$ for a BRAND NEW, not Refurb set like this. It paid for me to surf and found it at Sears for $30.00 cheaper than Circuit City, and I could pick it up so I saved shipping.
Vizio VX32L 32" Widescreen LCD HDTV with HDMI/ATSC
I began my search for a larger LCD with HD that was not going to send me to the poor house.. I came across the Vizio VX32L and read the opinion/reviews from owners, and found that a lot of people seemed pretty satisfied with it, although, they paid a lot more because they bought when LCD's were much more expensive, so I figured if they were happy with it for the price they paid, then I should be OK with paying only $569.00.
I picked it up and could not wait to get home to hang it on the wall and get the DVR & DVD player hooked to put it to the test.
First thing I noticed is that I was not truly satisfied with the way the picture looked at first. So I went in & tweaked the settings to my liking. I found that to be odd, since most TV's come from the factory and the default settings are usually satisfactory, and only need minor adjustments. This one needed to be tweaked more than any other TV I've owned. However after going through the manual and learning what all the little settings were (most new to me), when I was done I was pretty satisfied.
Now at first, I was using Standard Definition, which on most HDTV's doesn't always look like what people are used to seeing. So I used a nice DVD using progressive scan with Component Hook-ups. Now that brought out more of what this TV can deliver, and actually made me happy with my purchase right then & there.
The next test was to go to HD, so I used my HD-DVR, and hooked up the HDMI cable. All I can say is, WOW! The sharp crisp crystal clarity REALLY stood out now. This was the ultimate test to see what this thing was truly capable of, and I knew that I made a smart choice.
Now, can this TV deliver what the big names can? No, but it's pretty darn close, and that's why you pay $570-$600 instead of $1500-$2000. A Great value for the money. It has a contrast of 1200:1, which I think should be a good minimum to go by if you like realistic viewing without dark spots becoming impossible to make out. This one is bright, and can deliver some good clear full motion video. Sure you can buy a Sony for a TON more $$ with 10,000:1 contrast, but most people don't have that kind if dough to throw around for TV.
The menus are very simple, and it has plenty of settings to tweak this puppy to your liking. I do advise reading the manual for this part, because it had settings that normal TV's do not, and can be kind of confusing to the "Electronically Challenged" folks out there. Also, read the online forums that deal with this set, you'll learn a lot from it.
The sound that comes out of the built in speakers is great for a bedroom, but if you like thunderous surround, then you'll need a separate surround receiver. But for my bedroom, it's perfectly fine, and actually has a pretty good simulated surround that comes out nice & clear.
The set is attractive, I really like the look of it, and the fact that it can be wall mounted was real positive for me. Now for some, depending on the location of viewing, you might be better off placing it on a dresser, and angling the view. I know when I rearrange my bedroom, I'm not going to keep it on the wall, because it does not appear like it will be the ideal viewing angle. You can buy an expensive wall mounting hardware, that will twist, swivel, pan, etc., but whether you'll need it or not will all depend on viewing location.
I do like the input selections, it gives me options I've never had. For instance, it not only has HDMI, but it had 2. It also has 2 component video connections, 2 AV hookups, one with S-video, and it also had the standard coax for those who can enjoy true over the air uncompressed HD signals that will blow you away. This set has an ATSC tuner for just that purpose. As you shop around for flat panels, you'll want to make sure it comes with that (as some don't) if you want to enjoy over the air HDTV. It also has QAM built in so that some people can eliminate set top boxes for cable. You can also use this set as PC monitor if you choose, which some day I'm going the try out. It will be so much easier to read the screen in 32" instead 17" like I have now.
The remote is decent, and like all new ones take some getting used to. Of course I'd like some of the button in other locations, but I think that of all my remotes.
The Picture in Picture is nice, and unlike my HD rear projection, I do not have to worry about side bar burning in to the screen. The MFG. guarantees that no screen burn in can happen with this set, which puts my mind at ease when my kids pause the DVD player for hours at a time!
All in all for the money I believe I got a GREAT deal. Yes there are better sets out there, but most of us cannot afford them.

I bought this for my 47" Panasonic Plasma and had it mounted in minutes. A quick glance at the instructions and I was on my way. Several different sized bolts, for the TV mount side for different TV holes, with lock washers and spacer washers make it a breeze. Found the studs and marked the wall. Drilled pilot holes and used a ratchet to bolt it level to the wall with the use of the built in level. It was so quick! The only thing I had help on was when I hung the Plasma on the bracket (had my sons tell me higher lower. In all I spent under forty minutes only because I lowered the bracket about six inches for better viewing while reclined in my chair. Bonus HDMI cable comes with in the box.

(More customer reviews)This mount is heavy and has a lot of strength to support heavy panels. The cable management is much better than competing products that don't even attempt to hide cables. Be careful and take your time - the covers are made of plastic and make break if you try to force them. I would have liked to see metal covers, but with appropriate installation, they work fine and Omnimount may have been trying to keep the weight of the mount down. The cantilever arms are attractive and don't look as utilitarian as a Sanus or Peerless mount. They have a distinct strong and techy look.
Installation took me an hour, but there's no reason to rush the install. A mistake in preparation just makes it take many times longer. I recommend that you make sure you have a good stud finder and then use a finish nail to test the edges of your stud location. You really want to have the lag bolts hit the center of each stud. I used a decent box level and the provided template. The mount base, once lagged onto the wall, is fairly easy. The adapter plate for the plasma attaches easily.
I'd have to say that the hardest part is to have another person able to lift half of 150lbs of plasma tv up to the mount. Thankfully Omnimount has provided a method to rest the adapter on the mount until it can be fastened tightly. I placed a level on top of the plasma after it was mounted and made a tiny adjustment using the adjustment screws to ensure the TV wasn't canted.
So order a pizza, chill the beer, and invite a buddy and make sure you start early enough to watch a game afterward.
Note: many mount instructions show diagrams with the tv screen flat against the floor when installing an adapter on the back... That's not a good idea for a TV that has "this side up" in 17 languages on the box when shipped. Put a blanket on the top edge and lean it against a wall when installing the adapter to the rear of the TV and make sure that you check for depth on your screw holes before chosing the adapter screw.

(More customer reviews)I bought this TV in June 2008 and have found it to be an absolutely great buy. I bought my at RC Willey. Yes, I read the CNET review and the reviewer marked down the TV because of the dark shades changing. I looked at this in the store for several minutes and have lived with it for a month and have not noticed that problem at ALL! Personally I think they guy shot down the SONY because Samsung is running TV advertisements on CNET. This is a super sharp TV with excellent colors and deep deep blacks. This TV is much better than the old 2007 W. Here is why I bought this TV...It is super clear in digital broadcast and does a much better job in Analog/420p SD (old) transmitions than any other TV I have seen (no jaggies..thanks to Sony noise reduction/DSP). Sony knows Bluray- they invented it, they know what skin tones should look like like (they own a movie studio), thier menus are really easy/simple to use (vs. Samsung 650), it has a built in TV guide (You can get rid of that Monthly cable box fee) and it has future expansion capability.
On pure picture quality vs. Samsung 650:
* Picture: It is pretty darn close in digital broadcast. I looked at both side by side. Samsung has a slight edge on clarity in analog broadcast. Samsungs have more glare, Sony is a matte screen but blacks on samsung are pretty darn good because of the glossy screen. When viewing a BluRay DVD though, the Sony slightly more details. No fade from bright to black issues on sony as noted by CNET (he must have had a protype system). Colors are nice a bright and bravia 2 engine is even better than XBR4 or near it. I have heard the Z series may be better but they don't make it in 52'' yet.

* Menus: Samsungs menus are made for Engineers (lots of tweeks, but really confusing for average user). If you doubt it, download the user manual to the A650 and KDL524100 and see for yourself. If you and your family are highly technical, go for the Samsung. If you don't want to fiddle (aka get lost in menus), but get an excellent picture, go with the Sony. Sony's are really simple and easy to use, plus it automatically find digital channels and is somehow able to display all the channel icons (it is like I have a built in cable box).
* Features: The Sony may not have the Ethernet and built in weather/news of the 650 Samsung, but it does have the built in TV guide and future expansion. Realistically, if you want Internet in your TV, you are better off connecting an external device (Playstation, Apple TV, etc). The TV guide feature in the sony is great and the Bravia Sync is a big plus (especially when you use a Sony DVD upconverter 1080p (nice one at costco)- why?...TV remote controls it all. Sony Picture n' Picture is nice as well allowing you to view pictures/video from HDMI while at the same time viewing cable TV (regardless if it is SD or HD signal)
* Asthetics: My favorite feature on the sony is that the power buttons on on the top of the TV... helps with preventing kids from turning tV on/off. I believe Samsungs are too low. I personally didn't like the Red on the Samsung and the glossy screen. The remote on the Sony is really easy to find/use vs. the Samsung. But the Samsung's remote lit up at night...which the Sony's does not.
Bottom line: if you are a videophile and your family (wife) can deal with the techno menus (plus you want to upgrade the firmware to fix the Samsung A650 on/off bug), get the Samsung. If you want the a super clear Picture (videophile made easy), easiest to use LCD with features that make every day TV viewing smooth and easy... The sony is excellent- Plus it is future expandible.
Recommended Evaluation settings: Picture mode custom, backlight 7, Picture 95, Brightness 45, Color 50, Hue 0, Color temp Neutral, Sharpness 4, Noise Red. off, MPEG Noise red. off, Advanced settings-> Black corrector: med, Advance C.E Med, Gamma off, clear white low.

Olevia 542i 42-Inch LCD HDTV Review

(More customer reviews)I keep on hearing just how good HDTV looks, and I've seen in-store displays and not been impressed, of course. I also haven't been impressed with most of the HDTVs I've seen in people's houses with all the glare and stuff ruining the picture. So, I waited a LONG time before getting an HDTV for two reasons. First, I had a price point the TV had to get down to before I would buy. Secondly, the TV had to be an LCD (need to wallmount above fireplace; need to connect to HTPC, so no plasma with the rectangular pixels). Therefore, after a HECK of a lot of research and reading review after review, I chose the Olevia 542i for a great many reasons.
Reasons included very high ratings, very few complaints, extremely low price, Phillips S-IPS LCD panel, excellent SD scaler, lots of picture modes/zoom/adjustments/etc, built with PC use in mind, firmware updateable (haven't updated yet, but I could), etc. Ok, so I get the TV when it's at its cheapest price ever (mwahaha!), which was a full Benjamin below what I was willing to pay for it (the extra money paid for the Peerless Onemount wallmount for it). After I unpack the TV, I quickly scoot it over and use a VGA cable to connect it to my main PC just to test it out with World of Warcraft. I was completely blown away. It was a 42" LCD computer monitor at 1360x768, so clear you couldn't see pixels unless you were within two feet of it (with my glasses on)!
Anyway, I tested it with a bunch of different sources and everything just amazed me. It looks WAY WAY better, even with standard-def s-video and component video sources, than my Sony WEGA 27" CRT TV. I didn't expect that at all. The scaler in this Olevia (and the 37" 5-series model) is just incredible. Noise reduction is extremely impressive also, better than my Sony WEGA CRT by far, as regular Dish Network content is full of noise (low-bitrate mpeg-2; I will get an mpeg-4 Dish HD receiver soon).
Well, I rarely post reviews of items and mostly just read tons of reviews, but I had to post a review for this TV, especially since I didn't see any reviews for it on Amazon. I posted a bunch of pictures I took with my camera at 2048x1536 resolution, but Amazon scaled them down so they don't really do the TV justice. Still, you can get an idea of how awesome this TV is by looking at the pics.
I can honestly say that this is the best-looking display of any kind I have ever seen for any price. It is truly a bargain and can easily compete with any 1080i LCD its size at twice the price. Oh, also, HD content puts even the best-looking DVDs playing through the best-quality DVD player to shame, and this TV shows every detail beautifully in HD. The only downside is the black-level detail, but it is less and less noticeable with higher quality sources (I don't even notice a loss of any black-level detail in HD).

VIZIO VT470M 47-Inch Full HD 1080p 120 Hz LCD HDTV Review

(More customer reviews)I bought this TV to move up from a 37". I wanted 1080p capability and 120hz which I hoped would help with motion blur. Taking it out of the box I noticed it was much lighter than my older TV, good I suppose. The 'Java' finish is nice but not terribly noticeable, I was hoping it would stand out more for as much as they talked it up. The next thing I noticed was how incredibly chintzy the stand was. My old Olevia had a stand that was made out of solid tubular steel and weighs about 20-lbs. The Vizio stand is made out of the cheapest thinest steel China can make, and is a pain to attach as well. If the TV weren't so light, I wouldn't trust it, the stand just does not feel sturdy.
Set-up was incredibly easy, just plug and play, the on screen menu is as intuitive as it gets and I was playing around with the settings in no time. The problem, however, is that allot of those settings and extra features just aren't all the great. First there is the SRS TruSurround HD which accomplishes nothing other than making everything sound really echoed and weird, strike one. Then the SRS TruVolume, which is supposed to level out the volume levels in TV commercials and action movies, I have had it on and off a bunch of times, I really can't tell the difference, strike two. Lastly the Smooth Motion feature, which I don't really understand, it comes factory set to medium, but can easy be turned off, which you will be doing quickly if you buy this set. Essential what it does is increase the frame rate of whatever you're viewing, it works just fine but I can't understand exactly why anyone would want to use it. Seems like a pointless feature, but at least it does what it claims, strike two and a half?
Now to the screen itself. Fortunately this is the redeeming value of the set, value being the key word. I really doubt you could get a better quality screen for twice as much money. The blacks are black, the colors are vibrant. The refresh rate is fast, movement is crisp. It really is a beautiful picture. The image on the screen will be as sharp and clear as whatever video source you put in. If your interested in this product as a high-def monitor, you will not be disappointed. As a high-feature TV however, it falls just a bit short. Three stars.

I have a Westinghouse (which has 67+ Reviews on Crutchfield alone, a Sharp and a Samsung) With all that said, this Toshiba puts them all to shame. All the Extras hooked up: PS3, HDTV Sat, HDTV Over Air and of course SD Sat; without any doubt this TV on a whole Blows away the competition (coming from a Die Hard SONY fan) The important stuff; 3 HDMI inputs, TV Optical Out, Ability to select Direct Input when changing Video Inputs(this is important when programming Universal Remotes), A ton of Video Settings and of course it is simply Beautiful.
Designed in the image of the Classic Sleek pricey Pioneer Elites or the always gorgeous hard to find LG LCD sets; it's absolutely clean on the outside in the surrounding fairly thin jet Black Bezel...The speakers are hidden, but yet they sound amazing(Adjustable settings). The Picture in SD is beyond ANY other I have seen on an LCD. In HD the set will blow you away, guaranteed! Over the Air reception of HD is spectacular; I picked up 10 channels (5 HD) I did not have before. My PS3 comes to life, especially in Game Mode; all this and I have no space to mention the PC input. The Remote is better than most TV Universal remotes, with the odd exception of it not having a direct on/off CC button(Odd!)..
Toshiba has truly figured it out and has set a New Bar for all those "other" Manufacturers to follow. Go compare all the specs on Crutchfield! But Do not let the Amazon price fool you; Toshiba has given the best absolute quality at below average Name Brand pricing...Everyone I have shown the set to, has been in Awe!...then when they hear the price, Forget about it!

Toshiba's Regza line of TVs marry state-of-the-art technology to hip design. One feature that sets them apart is PixelPure 14-bit digital video processing, which creates more than 4,000 levels of color gradations for a smooth, natural-looking picture without posterization or image banding. Another benefit is a fast response time. Response time is the interval an LCD screen takes to from its darkest color to its lightest color and back again, measured in milliseconds (ms). This screen's response time is 8 ms, which is at the faster and better end of the spectrum. This screen is likely to display cleaner, sharper images during high-action scenes and with fewer image artifacts than other screens in its class. This technology is housed in a black gloss cabinetry that is sure to fit well with most any decor.
The 42HL67 has a panel resolution of 1366 x 768 pixels. This qualifies it as 720 progressive-line HDTV, which is a noticeably better picture than standard definition sets, but not as detailed as the 1080 HD sets available. The Value of LCD TVs Aside from their obvious aesthetic value, LCD TVs are much more practical in the home than CRT (tube-style) televisions. SRS WOW, a combination of SRS 3D, TruBass, and Focus sound-expanding systems, create a 3-D sound field with improved bass response over standard TV audio and create directed, three-dimensional audio sweet spot for maximum enjoyment. The TV also has optical digital output for connecting to your audio system.

42-inch wide screen A general rule of thumb for selecting the right size television screen is that the screen width--not its 42-inch diagonal measurement--should be between three and five times the optimum viewing distance, such as the distance from the TV screen to where your eyes are while sitting on the couch. Less than that and you may be distracted by the scan lines of the picture. More than that, and you may lose the detail of your TV. Based on this guide, the 42HL67 is ideal for viewing distances of 9.5 to 16 feet.

Samsung LN46A550 46-Inch 1080p LCD HDTV Review

(More customer reviews)First things first, I ordered this TV directly from Amazon and within a few days the price dropped and Amazon refunded the difference. Awesome! Amazon's White Glove delivery service delivered as promised and was OK to deal with; no issues at all. So for those of you wondering whether it is better to spend a few hundred bucks to order this set from a brick and mortar store; keep your money in your pocket and order from Amazon.
As for the TV, I am not a video expert type, but I do research big ticket items thoroughly before buying. This set and the previous generations received great reviews. However, I was torn between plasma and LCD. Being a big sports fan (lots of fast moving action on the screen) I had been leaning towards plasma. But the reviews of this set and the benefits of LCD over plasma (lighter, uses less energy, no risk of burn in and better for well lit rooms) made me make the plunge.
Overall, I am extremely satisfied. This is my first HDTV and I am using Directv HD service and the picture is outstanding. It is sharp, bright and overall beautiful. The only issue I have, which I was worried about with the LCDs, is that I do notice some pixelation when scenes move very fast (Thus 4 instead of 5 stars). However, it is not distracting but I do notice it.
The speakers are not as bad as some of the reviews would indicate. You just need to set the equalizer to the right settings. I have a home theatre set up so this is not a big issue, but to some it is so I thought I would comment on them.
The set looks great, is easy to set up and I am very, very, very happy with my purchase. Especially at this price. With my extra money I was able to buy a nice stand for the Samsung.

(More customer reviews)I have been looking at HDTV's a lot lately and finally came to the conclusion that I wanted an lcd. I thought that would make things a lot easier but there are so many choices. I started with a Westinginghouse 40" with a built-in dvd player. I didn't think it was too bad so I tried it out for about 25 days through my retailer's 30 day return policy. As I got down to the final days, I began doing some more research and found that the Samsung's were rated fairly high for performance. Wow, what a difference! With the Westinghouse I figured that I was going to have to settle for a so-so analog off-air picture on any lcd but boy, was I wrong. The Samsung LN-S4041D is a fantastic set and I would highly recommend it to anyone who doesn't mind paying a little more for a whole lot more! I really struggled with spending that kind of money until I tried the Samsung out and now I am more than satisfied! Great set!

(More customer reviews)As a college student with Xbox 360, I was looking to get into high definition without spending over a thousand dollars. At the time (last fall), this limited me to a 32" LCD, most of which were still significantly over my budget at brick-and-mortar electronics stores. I knew I wouldn't be buying Sony (too overpriced) and I refused to buy a brand like Vizio or Olevia because you get what you pay for, despite what owners claim. After doing about a half year of online and in-store research, I had narrowed my search down to Samsung and LG 32" LCDs, preferring the more expensive Samsung. I then decided to play the waiting game for prices to drop within my range. This year, though, using Amazon user reviews and AVS Forums as sources, I had to throw the new Sharp in with my prospective choices. About two months ago, a wholesale store had a sale on the 37" set that fell exactly at my price limit and I decided to pull the trigger.
I've used the set now for two months and I'm convinced that I made an excellent decision. Aesthetically, this television is beautiful and it is surprising how tiny the bezel seems. I'm still not used to the size of this thing, especially because I had been set on a 32" and I lived in a dorm room. I think that 37" is about as big as I could have gone because of viewing distance. I was worried about the fact that there were only two component and two HDMI inputs, but my amplified over-the-air antenna plugged into the coaxial jack and the digital HD broadcasts were phenomenal, with surround sound, too (Durham, NC area). If your cable provider feeds digital channels without a converter box, this set has a QAM tuner to pick those up, too, along with the mandated ATSC tuner and NTSC as well. At home right now for the summer I've got it hooked up to a Verizon FiOS set top box via HDMI and, with some adjustment, the picture is spectacular. Gaming with Xbox 360 is perfect, with vibrant colors and no perceived lag due to the 6ms response time - I couldn't be happier with that. Black levels are where this set really shines, and they look truly black, which has historically been the dealbreaker with LCD panels. With this Aquos, I get deep blacks without having ANY worries about burn-in, no matter how much plasma tech has progressed, one of my big concerns with the 360 and sports scores, etc. Standard definition is surprisingly good on the "Smart Stretch" setting, but it varies by channel. At 4:3, it is very comparable to a CRT, at least to my eyes. This is an LCD and it will look grainy/pixelated at times compared to hi-def stuff, but that's the nature of the beast.
I do have a few issues with the television. Like the Sharps have been known to do for years, there was a bit of a factory "red-push" that resulted in pinkish skin tones, but again, some tweaking fixed that. One issue I found annoying was the OPC backlight adjustment that dimmed or brightened the screen immediately after changing channels or going between commercials. Even on the "off" setting, this occurs, but turning it on and decreasing the range to 1 eliminated the problem. One widespread problem that I saw in my research is a sort of "popping" noise from the expansion of the TV casing as it heats and cools from turning on and off. I did experience occasional loud popping for the first couple weeks, but it had no impact on my experience and that sound has now completely disappeared. The speakers are fine for watching the news or a program on the Discovery Channel, but they really distort the low frequencies, even at a medium volume. Of course, these manufacturers have to assume that people who buy LCDs or plasmas have some kind of audio setup. There's no headphone jack, which I missed sorely because I couldn't watch television while my roommate was sleeping. At the same time, this TV isn't designed for anyone to sit sufficiently close for headphones, so it's understandable. I do have my desktop PC hooked up to the Aquos through the "PC Input" (RGB VGA), and it works well for playing video, especially HD, and viewing pictures. Be aware that by default, the TV is set to receive 1280x768 (which looks a little off) from the PC instead of its native 1360x768, so you'll have to change it in the menu; I can't figure out the reasoning behind that. Don't expect to be able to use it as a primary computer monitor - you'll have to upgrade to 1080p for that. Still, for video, I'm convinced that at 37" from regular viewing distance, 1080p is not discernible from 720p and therefore not worth the extra money. For example, 1080p on 52" has the same number of pixels per square inch as does 720p on 37".
Overall, this set is fantastic for my needs as a college student and gamer, especially for the price I got it for. I could not be more pleased with the quality of HD programming, but make sure that at least a good chunk of your viewing will be in HD. With the 1080p version getting to be only a couple hundred more expensive than this one, I feel that I might have some buyer's remorse because of the PC display difference. Buyers should know that because of how big retail stores split their video signal to multiple displays and the lack of fine tuning, what you see may not be what you get. This TV admittedly did not look good in the store, but once I got it home, I couldn't imagine taking it back. Despite its flaws, my satisfaction is undoubtedly five out of five.

(More customer reviews)This bracket is perfect for hanging heavy Maxent 42" Plasma TVs. It's very solid and easy to adjust. There are two turn knobs for adjusting the amount of tilt you desire. The included hardware allows for just about any application and provides a very strong wall connection. I bolted this on the wall using four of the large hex-head screws into the 2X4 studs. Once the wall plate is mounted and the hardware is attached to the back of the TV, you simply lift the TV onto the plate and it attaches via a couple of "hooks". The TV can be slid in eaither direction then secured using the included clamps on the bottom of the mount. Again, this is heavy duty, included all the hardware you need, and is adjustable.

Don't spend $150-$200 buying a bracket from Best Buy or another store when you can buy these for a fraction of the cost!
