(More customer reviews)Have you been shopping lately? Standard 4:3 screen aspect ratio CRT Television sets are becoming a thing of the past. One major audio/video retailer in my area no longer carries standard CRT TV sets. They only carry 16:9 (screen aspect ratio) LCD and Plasma sets! I find this sudden transition unbelievable. I prefer a large 4:3 CRT screen. For me they are much brighter and more vivid. The Sony KD32FS170 32" Trinitron WEGA Hi-Scan Digital Television is an excellent 4:3 set. It has a Digital 3-line comb filter that increases picture resolution and reduces noticeable dot-crawl, which is visible on less expensive 32-inch brands. It has Rear audio and composite video inputs as well as an S-video input for DVD, Laser Disc players and Super-VHS recorders for higher picture resolution. The picture on this TV set is excellent.

(More customer reviews)Contrary to popular opinion, you don't have to buy an expensive plasma or LCD (liquid crystal display) TV to get a great high-definition picure. In fact, many experts (including Consumer Reports) assert that high-definition TVs using traditional cathode-ray tube technology -- as this high-definition Sony does -- currently offer a sharper picture than plasma and LCD TVs plus are lower priced and more reliable. This Sony HD TV has an excellent picture with standard broadcasts and a superb picture with HD broadcasts.
Yes, this model -- despite being a high-definition TV -- has the traditional 4:3 aspect ratio rather than a widescreen 16:9 ratio. But my cable system currently broadcasts 175 channels in the traditional 4:3 aspect ratio and only 9 widescreen channels. How many widescreen channels do you currently receive? Widescreen 16:9 TVs have smaller pictures with gray bars on the side when displaying traditional 4:3 channels. Furthermore, because the screen on this TV is so large, when widescreen pictures are played on this set, although there will be letter-boxing bars above and below the widescreen picture, the picture will still be the same size as on a 34" 16:9 TV within a fraction of an inch. Thus, compared to a 34" 16:9 set, this TV will give you bigger pictures from conventional 4:3 channels and virtually the same size pictures when watching 16:9 channels or widescreen DVDs.
Widescreen high-definition broadcasts and widescreen high-definition TVs will be the norm in a few years, at which time the prices of such sets will be significantly lower than they are now. However, with the current situation where most channels still display traditional 4:3 pictures and only a few are in widescreen and high definition, a large screen 4:3 HD TV, such as this 36" Sony, is a good economical choice for many people at this time.

SONY KV-36FV310 36-Inch FD Trinitron(R) WEGA Television Review

(More customer reviews)This television really does have a superior picture to most of what's out there. (unless you step up to a good quality plasma screen). The only issue I've had is with one corner of the set that gets some weird colors once in awhile. From what I was told, this occurs because of the sensitivity of the set to the magnetic north and that if I turned the set, the problem would likely go away. Besides that, dvds look perfect, and playstation 2 games are great looking on this set.

I have my 32" Vizio LCD tv mounted in my bedroom. The instruction manual is only understandable after making yourself conversant with the very good instructions included on the dvd that came with, (both visual and spoken). The DVD also contains instructions on mounting some of their other wall mounts.
Since it is a single arm mount, it will be a bit offset when the tv is all the way against the wall, but that can be taken into consideration before mounting.It sits about 3" from the wall when fully back.
The hardware is well made, and there are many ways of mounting many types of backs, including rounded, (curved), and flat, with many VESA options. Though, I must say that the cord management is small, so I used velcro fasteners to keep them on the arm.
The TV also tilts sideways, but it only does so when you move it, and it is a one finger operation, as they advertise, as well as up and down. All the movement features are adjustable with the included hex wrench.
Once I was familiar with the operation, and found the center of the stud, (no small feat in this building), it took about 1/2 hour, and I had it up by myself. I am a small woman.
I would recommend this to a friend.

Philips 32RF50S 32" Flat Screen TV Review

(More customer reviews)I bought this TV 1.5 years ago. I thought it was great for the first few months, then I gradually noticed that the picture just didn't seem as clear anymore. Now when I watch my digital cable, I can't even read small text on the screen because it is so blurry. Same thing for DVDs...forget about reading subtitles! It's very annoying and frustrating.
I'm not sure what exactly is wrong with it, but I am certainly NOT happy with my TV now. I contemplated buying the Sony WEGA model, but opted not too because of the price increase. Now I see it probably would have been worth it. No more Phillips products for me.
One other con, the TV is HUGE and HEAVY It's so awkward to carry, I almost killed myself moving it last summer.
