Unit does the job after getting screws that fit holes on a listed TV and drilling holes in horizontal brackets to match 16" on-center studs. Directions vague.

While the TV was working, the picture was great. I had my media PC, HD DVR, Wii, and DVD player all hooked up to it and everything worked fine. It's a very compact design (speaker is on the bottom) so it fits great in the room I have to work with.
Sadly, about 40 days after purchase, the screen randomly went black. LG's replacement guarantee was for 30 days, and they wouldn't budge. I had to get a repairman to pick it up. I left town for the holidays and called the repair place to check on the status. They said they ordered the broken part from LG the day after they got the TV and had been waiting for it to arrive for nearly a month.
It was a nice TV.. for the short period of time that it worked. It appears I'm not alone with this problem, either. This is my last experience buying from LG, thanks to defective products and rude (though very American!) customer support.
I regret not buying a Samsung.

LG 47SL90 47-Inch 1080p 120 Hz LED HDTV, Glossy Black Review

LG 47SL90 47-Inch 1080p 120 Hz LED HDTV, Glossy Black
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
If you are looking for a latest technology LED HDTV you probably have come across this LED panel from LG. I read the other reviews on here and am a little suspicious some of these people might work for LG?
O.K There is good as well as bad and it certainly isn't all bad, but don't be fooled by some of the over zealous reviews on here about this product. It looks great in the stores but might not do as well in the realities of your home. Please read on.
The Good!
The panel looks great cosmetically, its slim, the boarder is there (its just that it doesn't protrude from the screen like most its contained within the glass panel it self. The price is competitive.
Picture clarity under ideal viewing conditions is impeccable. 1080P and 1080I modes ee this TV perform at its best. Connected to a Blu-ray player playing 1080P, with the all the blinds closed is top notch!!
The Not so Good.
The screen has some serious glare issues (as it's a glass screen) If you have this screen anywhere near a window(s) especially behind you the viewer, it's really difficult to get your eyes to focus out the images reflected from behind you. My much older Westinghouse LCD has an anti-glare screen and copes much better than the LG does in usual viewing situations like this. The 120 Hz True-motion setting just doesn't work and causes some serious pixel issues. This effect can be seen clearly around people on screen. The Panel works O.K when this feature is turned off. Calibration and cinema mode settings seem to work just fine.
Low resolution viewing (lower than 720P) is not that great and again is out performed, in my personal opinion, by my much older Westinghouse TV)
I have found some strange issues watching recorded programs on my DVR such as "Flash Forward" the other night which had a great deal of dark scenes. It seemed almost like I was watching in Low resolution, the picture quality was not at all good. However watching the latest Star Trek on Blu-ray is just outstanding - so I don't know if this is an issue with resolution, black levels or 1080I versus 1080P settings.
Conclusion:
If you are looking for a LED panel and have ideal viewing conditions and your primary input is going to be HD sources especially DVD's on Blu-ray, then this is the TV for you. If you are going to be watching multiple TV programs in more realistic household settings you may want to look at other options with screens that are less glossy.

Remanufactured Akai LCT2701TD 27 Inch LCD TV/DVD Player Combo Review

Remanufactured Akai LCT2701TD 27 Inch LCD TV/DVD Player Combo
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I purchased an Akai 27in LCD flatscreen/DVD combo about a week ago and I have been astounded by how good it actually is.The screen clarity is what first caught my attention when I saw it at COSTCO-- yes it is hooked up for HDTV when it is on display and there are warning stickers placed on the shelves to let you know that a regular DVD will not be as good as HDTV. (This item was not available on Amazon at the time).
I purchased it for use as a computer monitor when I found that a 21 inch monitor I'd just bought really wasn't roomy enough for true side by side viewing of webpages..I returned it and had to pay a 15% restocking fee but I'm sure glad I did and went straight over to purchase my Akai. I have been having a great time watching all my old DVD's because it brings them to life as if I am watching them for the first time. One of the most amazing things about this monitor is just how stunning the brights and whites are-- especially when watching a live concert DVD with vivid colors, flashes, and spotlights.
The response rate is excellent and the blacks are very black.
The DVD player is as easy to operate as is possible and works flawlessly. As for durability I cannot say because I have only had it for a week, but while I was waiting in line to purchase it I had a few people brag about other Akai products they have and their excellence.
The speakers are very good but I would only give them 4 stars. I have never come across any flat panel that had truly excellent speakers but VERY GOOD is good enough when you weigh in the compact design and sleek styling.
I've been enjoying my new Akai so much I haven't even hooked it up to my computer yet. I think to myself... How can I get so excited over a little flat panel tv? I need to get out more.
There are so many hundreds of models of LCD flat panel tvs out there and many of them are downright horrible, with muddy screens and blured images. If you are in the market for a flat panel this size. Definently take a look at this one.

Save space in your entertainment center with the vividly colorful 27-inch Akai LCT2701TD LCD TV with integrated side slot-loading DVD player. It's ready to display high-definition television programming (480p, 720p, and 1080i) with an optional HD receiver or via an HD-capable cable/satellite set-top box. It can also be used as a PC monitor with a VGA input. The DVD player is compatible with DVD movie and CD audio discs as well as music mixes burned to CD-R/RW discs.
It features a 1366 x 768-pixel native resolution, 550 cd/m2 high brightness rating for a brilliant picture in any environment, and 1000:1 contrast ratio for an incredible picture with deeper blacks and brighter whites. It's also easily viewable from all around the room with its 176-degree viewing angle. It offers component video input for HD viewing as well as composite A/V and S-Video inputs. It also has a digital coaxial audio output, enabling you to run sound through a surround sound home theater system.
The LCT2701TD performs 3:2 pulldown detection and reversal, too--a handy feature for watching progressive-scan movie programs in their native 24-frame format. To adapt 24 frames-per-second movies to 30 fps video, frames in the original movie must be duplicated; 3:2 pulldown digitally corrects this duplication by removing the redundant information to display a frame-accurate picture. The 2D comb filter separates chrominance (color) from luminance (brightness) information in the video signal for independent processing to improve picture resolution and minimize distortion.
Tech Talk Component Video Input: You'll get great picture reproduction from compatible DVD players or cable/satellite set-top boxes using the three-jack component video (Y/Pb/Pr) output, which provides separate connections for luminance (Y), blue color difference (PB) and red color difference (PR). This results in increased bandwidth for color information, resulting in a more accurate picture with clearer color reproduction and less bleeding than you would get with S-Video or composite (RCA yellow video plug) connections.

I have never written a review for anything, but a review for this TV is a must. It's picture quality is amazing from cable to BluRay to DVD. It has brought my old DD's to life with the motionflow 240hz technology. If you know anything about this, it looks as if you are on the set when they are filming and gives a depth to each scene. Just watched the Se7en on it (non-Blu-Ray) and caught things I missed on the set due to this TV's clarity and depth. I thought it would only bring my Blu-Ray's to life, but even movies like The Natural plain DVD were killer and made Robert Redford seem timeless like it was recently shot even though the movie was shot nearly 30 years ago.
I purchased this set from a local Fry's for 999.00 and based on thorough research and comparisons, it was a steal. Even watching the high end Sony's etc, they were giving the same picture quality at almost twice the price.
I can't speak for the lip sync issues, as I have it running to an old surround sound system and not showing any problems.
Bottom line, LG is making a rival 240hz slick design flat panel that exceeds other high end brands at a fraction of the cost.

Magnavox 32MF231D 32-Inch Widescreen LCD TV Review

Magnavox 32MF231D 32-Inch Widescreen LCD TV

I am the first one to admit that I love my toys, and while I have mellowed in my old age, I have owned a lot of audio and visual equipment over the years. I was really excited to be getting my first flat screen TV, and figured a product from Phillips Magnavox would be a good one. Well, I was wrong. Let me begin by saying that this TV is only four and a half months old! Major technical issues have arisen in which the TV makes horrible noises and shuts itself off. I looked around online and found lots of other people have had the same problem as well. Then you have to call their technical support, which is just a great way to kill some time before they come back and tell you to take it to a local service center, and that labor is coming out of your pocket. They will however let you know "how sorry they are to hear that," about 7 or 8 times. Not a great product, poor service, not super cheap either. Try another brand, especially if you are going to spend this kind of money.

Enjoy the crystal clear imagery of high-definition television with the stylish, silver 32-inch Magnavox 32MF231D HDTV, which provides a wide array of connectivity options for all your video needs. It has a built-in ATSC tuner that pulls HD signals right from the airwaves (via an optional antenna), and its QAM tuner is fully compatible with unscrambled HDTV cable reception. You can also hook up an HDMI-capable cable or satellite set-top box and enjoy the the highest standard of high-definition audio and video--with a single cord connection. A standard analog NTSC tuner receives standard-definition (SD) programming. It comes with a removable tabletop stand, and this set can be wall-mounted with optional hardware.
The 32MF231D delivers a true 1366 x 768-pixel HDTV resolution (capable of displaying 1080i and 720p high-definition signals), and it features a wide 170-degree viewing angle, 500 cd/m2 (candela per square meter) brightness rating--perfect for viewing colorful details in even direct sunlight--and high 800:1 contrast ratio. (The higher the contrast ratio, the greater a TV's ability to display subtle color details and not get washed out by ambient room light.) It also offers a very fast 8ms (millisecond) response time, which is great for watching fast-moving. sports and action movies.
The 3D motion adaptive de-interlacing feature cleans up noise that can occur in digital video streams, so the image is crisper, without jagged edges. The 3D comb filter further enhances resolution by removing blurred edges between colors and reducing dot crawl (tiny, moving dots of color along a sharp color separation in a vertical line, as in a depiction of a character's striped T-shirt). Convenience features include the Smart Picture function, which allows you to choose among settings for optimal picture color, and V-Chip parental controls.
Experience great stereo sound from built-in 10-watt speakers (with a total power output of 20 watts). Magnavox's Smart Sound feature automatically prevents the jumps in volume between programs and commercials and provides a steady volume level. It offers the following connection options:
Composite AV (RCA): 4 in
S-Video: 2 in
Component Video: 2 in
HDMI: 1 in
RF: 1 in

Tech Talk HDMI is a lossless, uncompressed, all-digital audio/video interface to link any audio/video source (such as a set-top box, DVD player, or AV receiver) with your TV--all over a single cable. HDMI supports standard, enhanced or high definition video, plus multi-channel digital audio on a single cable. It supports all ATSC formats--standard (SDTV), enhanced (EDTV), and high (HDTV).
Component video (also called Y/Pb/Pr) features a three-jack video input, which provides separate connections for luminance (Y), blue color difference (PB) and red color difference (PR). This results in increased bandwidth for color information, resulting in a more accurate picture with clearer color reproduction and less bleeding than you would get with S-Video or composite (RCA yellow video plug) connections. Samsung LN22A330 22-Inch 720p LCD HDTV Review

Samsung LN22A330 22-Inch 720p LCD HDTV
Average Reviews:

I have the 22 inch version of this model line (Samsung LN-22A330) for my bedroom, and am VERY impressed. The picture quality is fantastic, and it has settings where you can fine tune the settings for individual channels.
I have it on every morning for the news while I'm getting ready for work, and every night as I wind down and fall asleep (very appreciative of the person who first installed sleep timers on TVs).
I like everything about this unit, including the "tools" function on the remote for the most-used items in my house (including the sleep functions). There are "fun" settings, too...where you can choose not only your energy savings level, but also what type of image you're watching...a "movie" versus reg tv....it deepens the color beautifully without actually changing the colors.
The only item I find disconcerting is the sheer amount of time it takes to respond to turning the unit 'on'. Once you hit Power, just ignore it and ...................................................THEN you'll hear the tones turning it on (tones may be set at different volumes and even turned off if you poke around in the menu long enough to find it).
Given time, I'll certainly get used to the amount of time it is, but for now it's bothersome as there is no other indicator that you actually hit the button correctly (the light on the power button on the tv doesn't flash at first, nothing).
If I needed to replace this 22" unit for some reason, I'd buy the same model again in a heartbeat. Very pleased with Samsung's 330 line. Excellent value for the price for a bedroom tv.

Sharp Aquos LC32D44U 32-Inch 720p LCD HDTV Review

Sharp Aquos LC32D44U 32-Inch 720p LCD HDTV
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I have both this TV as well as a Samsung LN-T2642H. It's very interesting to compare the two TV's performances. If you want the more balanced natural look, go with Sharp. If you're more interested in a vivid, colorful image go with Samsung. I also did an extended look at the Toshiba 26HL67.
There is a key difference between the panels Sharp uses compared to others. Sharp's TVs are made with panels called S-IPS while Samsung, Sony and Toshiba currently use a panel called S-PVA. This has everything to do with why Samsung, Sony and Toshiba have very strong color but one thing I noticed about Samsung is that when you look at it for a slightly low angle, the color gets darker and starts to invert. If you look it from above, the color gets lighter and starts to invert. With the Sharp, no matter what angle I look at it, the color doesn't change AT ALL! This is very impressive and cool!
I also notice that when I played around with the TV settings, it doesn't need much to look good, it almost always does. When you turn on the Active Contrast mode on the Sharp (it's equivalent to DNIe), it doesn't totally knock out the details in darker areas. At first, I had to keep checking to see if it was on or not because I was so used to the way the Samsung crushes black details even on the Low setting. Once again, I was more impress with the way this TV addresses contrast in fact I think the Sharp does a better job with contrast because of its black color.
The Sharp's black color is closer to black than the Samsung. The black color on the Samsung is more of a dark blue even on Warm temperature (it's especially noticably at slight vertical angles) but with the Sharp the black was much closer to real black.
The speakers on the Sharp doesn't distort at volume levels higher than 30. With the Samsung, when u turn the volume up pass 30, the bass tends to distort the fidelity of all the sound resulting in a buzz. This is probably due to the build of the unit and the lower wattage for the speakers. Sharp doesn't sound perfect either but it's definitely warmer and clearer at high volumes thanks to having 10 watts per speaker instead of 5. I would recommend everyone to get a 2.1 speaker for any LCD TV though. Take advantage of those sound outputs on the back of your TV! :) It definitely takes your experience to a higher level!
One minus I have with the Sharp was that it didn't have a headphone jack.
Overall, I think this is an excellent 32" TV. Sharp is definitely worth a look and probably my new LCD manufacturer of choice. It doesn't need as much tweaking when you switch between uses. I tested both TVs with PC (via DVI>HDMI), Xbox 360, HDTV, SDTV, HD-DVDs and upconverted DVDs. With the Samsung, I find myself always tweaking the settings between uses like changing the Energy Saving level, turning up the Digital NR for SDTV, turning it off for everything else, toning down the DNIe.
Thanks to Sharp's OPC, the backlight adjust very intelligently based on what's on the screen. I just leave the Active Contrast on because I know I'm not missing out darker details, the picture is very sharp and the panel is slightly faster thanks to the 6ms speed, which equals less motion blur with things like text and more solid image overall.
This Sharp is the real deal and reminds me much more of a CRT than the Samsung because the Samsung requires too much twinkering to get things comfortable. I think if the Samsung's black was more like true black and the vertical angle didnt distort so much I wouldn't tweak it as often.
So in summary, if you want the most vibrant colors and don't mind tweaking between uses by all means get a Samsung. (I still like the Samsung and would give it a 4 out of 5)
If you want a more, natural looking picture, that doesn't offer or require as much tweaking because it just plain looks good, go with a Sharp.
I think Toshiba and Sony TVs tend to do a better job with black crush and black color than Samsung but since the panels are the same technology (S-PVA), they still have the vibrant color and probably some vertical viewing weirdness.

This product is very strong and very adjustable. It is perfect for my 55", 25 lb. LCD-LED TV. The mount can hold a great deal more weight than my TV. It has enough extension and swivel capability, that I can swivel my TV a full 180 degrees in either direction, which is extremely useful to me. When I'm not using it as a TV, I'm using it as a second monitor for my PC, so swiveling it towards my PC is essential. Plus, the extra extension is great. I keep my entertainment center credenza about 16" away from the wall, so there's ample space for all of the wires, power strips, UPSs, etc. that spill out the back. To accommodate, I pull the TV out from the wall to center it over the credenza, both front and back, and side to side. Truly an excellent TV mount. I am thoroughly impressed.

The single articulating arm, which attaches to any wall, creates the perfect viewing angle for your TV with 180 degree lateral rotation, tilt and swivel. The Articulating LCD Wall Arm supports most 37" up to 55" plasma TV. It folds flat against the wall or extends out up to 27". The single arm design provides 15 degree tilt and up to 180 degrees of swivel for virtually limitless viewing positions. Fits VESA200x200, 300x300, 400x200, 400x400, 500x200, 600x400, 600x200, 680x400, and any mounting hole pattern between 200 and 680mm (wide) by 200 to 400mm (High). Fits most flat panel LCD TVs up to 55". Heavy-gauge steel construction. Lift-N-Lock design offers easy installation. Please check the back of your LCD to make sure if the mount fits your monitor or TV. Note: please check what mount your TV requires before place your order. Do not pick the mount by the screen size of your TV. Will This mount Fit my Plasma TV? First check the weight of the TV. It must be less than 180 lbs. Second, look at the back panel of your TV. If your TV has 4 holes or 6 holes on the back of the screen, measure the vertical and horizontal distance between the holes. If the vertical distance is within - 15.75 inch, horizontal distance within 26.77 inch, then this bracket will fit. If you currently have a stand attached to your LCD TV this is usually removed prior to fitting the wall mount. Third, the width of your TV should be 36" or above. Otherwise the mount is too wide to hide behind your TV. We have a smaller tilt mount for 23" - 37" TV in our Amazon store. The mount is in black color. VideoSecu brand TV wall mount. Sony Bravia V-Series KDL-40V2500 40-Inch 1080p LCD HDTV Review

Sony Bravia V-Series KDL-40V2500 40-Inch 1080p LCD HDTV
Average Reviews:

After reading reviews of various LCD HDTVs, my main concern was how well the set would display standard definition content, which still constitutes the majority of what is available on cable. Reviews of Sonys seemed to indicate they did a better job of displaying 480i signals, and I must admit I was pleasantly surprised by how good standard def looks on this set...comparable or better than the tube set it's replacing. Digital channels look great, too, and of course the high def channels are fantastic. DVDs from a progressive scan player also look great.
A few points to consider when shopping for a set like this:
1. Don't get one that's too big for the viewing distance. Use 3 times the diagonal size as a guide. I sit about 10 feet away from the screen, so the 40 inch set is ideal. There is a big difference watching this TV from 4 ft. away vs. 10 ft. Sit too close (or with too big a screen) and you'll see all the grain and imperfections in a 480i signal, and even the pixel shimmer on a high def signal. Sit farther away, and the image looks much, much better.
2. Standard def in 4:3 looks better that way than trying to zoom it out to fill the wide screen. By doing so, you introduce distortion to the picture and also enlarge the 480i signal, which reduces the quality. This set has a black border, so watching a 4:3 image with the black bars on the right and left is not distracting.
3. Not all high def content is provided in 16:9 format, and the quality of the signal may vary. Some high def stations look better than others.
4. This set has backlight control that allows you to turn down the backlight brightness. This helps to improve black levels quite a bit.
5. Don't spend $80-$100 on an HDMI cable. I ordered one from Amazon for around $15 bucks and it works just fine. Digital signals are not as subject to noise and interference like an analog signal, so no need for an overpriced cable.
This TV is pretty easy to set up. The menus are fairly easy to navigate. You can tailor your settings for each input. You can have up to 8 different inputs, and the TV allows you to label each one and also to skip any that are unused. The remote is basic and doesn't allow you to control any other devices, but on the plus side, is simple to operate.
The delivery service by EGL (Eagle) was fine, and their delivery estimate was accurate. They contacted me by phone when the TV arrived to schedule a time for delivery. They arrived on time, unpacked the set, placed it on the stand, and removed the packaging. The delivery guy also helped me move my other set. The one minor problem I had was with the tracking number. Apparently, the number had been used previously a couple of years ago, so the tracking on the Amazon site was incorrect. I had to go to EGL's web site and enter it as a reference number in their tracking query in order for my order to show up.

I got the first set in February of 2008 but had to return it since it had 1 bad pixel which was a bright green dot near the top center of the screen. I had no problem returning it to the vendor which was great "wegotbetterdeals" and I highly recommend them. The reason I am not upset was because the Amazon details of this product were incorrect. Both the sets I received must of been updated models even tho they were SYTPT3227AB 32inch models. This model has (3) HDMI ports, not one and a 8ms response time, not 12ms as stated in the description. Needless to say this more then made up for the first set I received with the bad pixel. Set has been working great as of 4/24/2008 and has a quick startup time. Only issue I had was with my Cablevision remote won't operate the TV as well as many other universal remotes I tried. Solution is to buy a "Learning Remote". I am using a SONY RM-VL600 and it was under 30 bucks. Also has the option to turn the TV and cable box on and off with one button if you program it. Hope this helps everyone.

Samsung LNT4065F 40-Inch 1080p LCD HDTV Review

Samsung LNT4065F 40-Inch 1080p LCD HDTV
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I had recently purchased the Samsung LN-S4095D 40" 1080p LCD HDTVfrom Amazon, but it had a good amount of back light issues exactly like the Sony XBR's. I have read that it sometimes goes away by itself after a few weeks of use. But after 3 weeks it was still cloudy. I shipped it back and received a full refund. I'd heard that the LNT-series of Samsung's were coming out in March and that the problem had been resolved. After many in store demo's at BB and CC by asking the sales associates to hook up a blu-ray 1080p DVD (luckily they all had "Happy Feet" so they were exactly the same movie compared) I product tested the Samsung LNT4061F 40" 1080p LCD HDTV, the LNT4065F, and LNT4066. Along with two Sony's that caught my eye Sony KDL-40XBR2 40" Bravia XBR 1080p LCD HDTV,Sony KDL-40V2500 40" Bravia V-Series 1080p LCD HDTV. All were within my price range. But the Sony V2500 wasn't even close to standing with the Samsung LNT's. The XBR2 is great, but watch out for clouding which Sony will NOT admit is a problem, I recommend googling the XBR clouding problem before buying from SONY. If you're looking for the best all around TV (price, sound, picture quality, no CLOUDING, hook-up versatility(3x HDMI)) then the LNT4065 is the perfect TV for you. It has hidden side speakers that sound very rich and full. If you already have a sound system and prefer a matte finish to your TV get the LNT4061. The LNT4061 has poor sound from its hidden bottom speaker, but the matte screen is excellent to prevent glare. The LNT4065 has a semi-gloss screen, which makes the 15K:1 contrast ratio look amazing! I haven't had any glare problems at all. The only difference between the LNT4065 and LNT4066 is that the 66 has a different chasis. The internals are all the same. I've confirmed this through extensive research. The 65 has buttons on the top of it, while the 66 has pressure sensitive buttons on the bottom left corner. Not worth the extra money to me. PS2 and Gamecube games look fantastic on it. I don't have a Wii or PS3 to try on it yet, but I'll submit another review when I do. This TV is so versatile. So many features for sound, gaming, and picture quality. You can adjust everything you want. LCD is the only way to go, with this TV you get the CR of plasma without the ghosting! This is the TV to buy!
Big plus to Amazon. I bought the TV for $2199 and saw that a week later it was 1905 and they refunded the difference.
JUNE 5, 2007 UPDATE: I purchased a PS3 and a Wii and both look fantastic! The 1080p HDMI 1.3 look crystal clear, I've played Fear(720p), and Ninja Gaiden (1080p). The 1080p upconverting that the PS3 does with the recent firmware upgrade makes all of my regular DVD's look great, and my PS2 games look just as good. The Wii only uses RCA but it looks great with 480i. Zelda and the Wii Sports look fantastic. Having three HDMI ports really comes in handy with a PS3 and DirecTV (HDMI 1080i).

For people looking to step up to full 1080p resolution in a 40-inch flat-panel LCD, Samsung's 2007 model LNT4065F is a good choice. Besides offering full 1080p resolution the LNT4065F also features a 15,000:1 dynamic contrast ratio for rich blacks and subltle tecture display, an 8ms response time panel for smooth motion, hidden side speakers, an NTSC tuner, and 3 HDMI ports.
Compared to other Samsung Models The primary differences between Samsung's LNT4065F and the lower priced LNT4061F LCD HDTV is in the contrast ratio and video processing power. Where this model offers a 15,000:1 dynamic contrast ratio and a 10-bit video processor, the LNT4061F has a 10,000:1 ratio, with an 8-bit video processor. The LNT4065F should display finer gradients of shading making for more detail in darker scenes. The video processing difference should ensure smoothermotion in fast moving scenes.
Image Processing The Samsung Digital Natural Image engine (DNIe) Video Enhancer refines all analog NTSC and wideband video inputs for an overall improvement in picture quality. DNIe improves contrast, white level, picture detail and incorporates digital noise reduction to improve lower quality video inputs. The 3D Y/C digital comb filter constantly analyzes the three dimensions of picture height, picture width, and picture changes-over-time to dramatically reduce edge image artifacts while improving transition detail.
Audio Features High-quality virtual surround sound can be experienced with just the speakers built into the TV. SRS TruSurround XT technology delivers an amazing, simulated 3D effect with clear dialog and powerful bass through hidden side speakers. TruSurround XT audio adds three audio enhancement technologies to produce an amazingly immersive sound experience.
Dialog Clarity brings movie dialog into Focus during the playback of any surround-encoded material to make speech much clearer and crisper.
TruBass creates incredible deep rich bass allowing a person to perceive significantly deeper, richer low bass tones that are far beyond the physical low frequency capabilities of the speaker itself.
The SRS WOW feature widens the soundstage by processing standard two-channel stereo material as well as multi-channel encoded material for a dramatic improvement in the playback of any stereo audio over a two-speaker system.

Toshiba REGZA 42HL67 42-Inch 720p LCD HDTV Review

Toshiba REGZA 42HL67 42-Inch 720p LCD HDTV
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
Let's just say I have had my experiences with LCD TV's. I have a Westinghouse (which has 67+ Reviews on Crutchfield alone, a Sharp and a Samsung) With all that said, this Toshiba puts them all to shame. All the Extras hooked up: PS3, HDTV Sat, HDTV Over Air and of course SD Sat; without any doubt this TV on a whole Blows away the competition (coming from a Die Hard SONY fan) The important stuff; 3 HDMI inputs, TV Optical Out, Ability to select Direct Input when changing Video Inputs(this is important when programming Universal Remotes), A ton of Video Settings and of course it is simply Beautiful.
Designed in the image of the Classic Sleek pricey Pioneer Elites or the always gorgeous hard to find LG LCD sets; it's absolutely clean on the outside in the surrounding fairly thin jet Black Bezel...The speakers are hidden, but yet they sound amazing(Adjustable settings). The Picture in SD is beyond ANY other I have seen on an LCD. In HD the set will blow you away, guaranteed! Over the Air reception of HD is spectacular; I picked up 10 channels (5 HD) I did not have before. My PS3 comes to life, especially in Game Mode; all this and I have no space to mention the PC input. The Remote is better than most TV Universal remotes, with the odd exception of it not having a direct on/off CC button(Odd!)..
Toshiba has truly figured it out and has set a New Bar for all those "other" Manufacturers to follow. Go compare all the specs on Crutchfield! But Do not let the Amazon price fool you; Toshiba has given the best absolute quality at below average Name Brand pricing...Everyone I have shown the set to, has been in Awe!...then when they hear the price, Forget about it!

Toshiba's Regza line of TVs marry state-of-the-art technology to hip design. One feature that sets them apart is PixelPure 14-bit digital video processing, which creates more than 4,000 levels of color gradations for a smooth, natural-looking picture without posterization or image banding. Another benefit is a fast response time. Response time is the interval an LCD screen takes to from its darkest color to its lightest color and back again, measured in milliseconds (ms). This screen's response time is 8 ms, which is at the faster and better end of the spectrum. This screen is likely to display cleaner, sharper images during high-action scenes and with fewer image artifacts than other screens in its class. This technology is housed in a black gloss cabinetry that is sure to fit well with most any decor.
The 42HL67 has a panel resolution of 1366 x 768 pixels. This qualifies it as 720 progressive-line HDTV, which is a noticeably better picture than standard definition sets, but not as detailed as the 1080 HD sets available. Its 16:9 wide screen aspect ratio delivers most movies the way they were meant to be seen in the theater, without back bars wasting the top and bottom of the screen.

The Value of LCD TVs Aside from their obvious aesthetic value, LCD TVs are much more practical in the home than CRT (tube-style) televisions. They take up a smaller footprint, and thus use up less floor space in the room. Also, LCD TVs are lighter and easier to move around when cleaning or redecorating. The 42HL67 is only 4.89 inches deep and weighs 54 pounds. Best of all, LCD screens use less power than CRTs and plasma screens.

Connections The set has a built-in digital television tuner, so out of the box it can receive digital broadcast ATSC signals and QAM signals used by most digital cable providers. It also has a built-in 181-channel NTSC tuner, so it can also accept traditional analog signals. It can also make these connections to your audio and video components:
HDMI inputs: 3
ColorStream HD component video inputs: 2
PC monitor input: 1 VGA 15 Pin D-sub
S-video input: 1
A/V inputs: 2

Audio The unit's SoundStrip speaker system hides the unit's speakers in a thin strip bordering the screen. They're powerful enough to deliver big stereo sound, but they don't add significantly to the size of the set. Toshiba's StableSound feature maintains television volume within a preset range regardless of the source signal. This is an extremely useful feature when transitioning between a quiet television program and a very loud commercial advertisement or when changing channels. SRS WOW, a combination of SRS 3D, TruBass, and Focus sound-expanding systems, create a 3-D sound field with improved bass response over standard TV audio and create directed, three-dimensional audio sweet spot for maximum enjoyment. The TV also has optical digital output for connecting to your audio system.

42-inch wide screen A general rule of thumb for selecting the right size television screen is that the screen width--not its 42-inch diagonal measurement--should be between three and five times the optimum viewing distance, such as the distance from the TV screen to where your eyes are while sitting on the couch. Less than that and you may be distracted by the scan lines of the picture. More than that, and you may lose the detail of your TV. Based on this guide, the 42HL67 is ideal for viewing distances of 9.5 to 16 feet.

What's in the Box 42HL67, stand, 4-item universal remote, stand, warranty and product manuals.

I selected this specific television because of the integrated Netflix player. Set up took literally minutes and everything worked great until I tried to activate the built in Netflix player. I was not able to get an activation code from netflix because, although the tv could hit my home network and the internet, the player was unable to log into the Netflix activation server. I first called Netflix and was transfered to LG customer support, who were more interested in getting my phone number than working through the issue. We fumbled through a couple of things becore they informed me that they would need to send out a service tech and I would have to be available for 4 hours on a Tuesday for them to show up. Not finding this acceptable, I reached out to Netflix again. This time I got someone on the level 2 helpdesk who worked with me for about an hour on network things. Basically we determined that there was nothing wrong with my network, but that the problem resided in the television. He was willing to sit on the phone another hour with me while we brought up the LG tech on what had been done. After he walked through several remedial steps that didn't really have anything to do with the situation, the LG tech gave up and tried to schedule another on site visit. I insisted on talking to a supervisor who informed me that there was no Level 2 help desk for LG. After I pressed hard enough, she put me on hold and called someone she knew in Advanced techncal support (aparently an internal departmement). I got a promise for some to call me back. Everyone I had talked to was extremely friendly and told me over and over they wanted to help, but their depth of knowledge on this product was very weak.
After spending an hour with the advanced technical guys, they finally conceeded that they had never actaully set up a Netflix connection, but had seen one working. They also told me that there are known issues with Belkin routers (of course, that is the router I use.) I now have no less than 6 hours invested in getting Netflix to work on this tv and it still doesn't. I will now have to wait for a field tech to come out, do exactly the same things I've done over the last 6 hours and then inform me that I'll need a new board or something, but it'll have to be ordered. I should note that the other web applications integrated into the television work great, it's a shame I didn't buy the TV for them.
I already have a Roku Netflix player (it's even wireless) and I get great results on my Toshiba plasma TV. I should have just bought the tv I really wanted and went with a second Roku device for the new television.
UPDATE - After working with an authorized repair company, the main mother board was replaced and all issues with NETFLIX connectivity were resolved. I am still using the Belkin router and it works like a charm. There were some issues also with the speakers (they crackled at certain frequencies) but once they were replaced, everything seems to be working well.

I purchased this model through the Philips Outlet online site as a "factory renewed" item. I generally like the TV, even though using it to view progressive scan DVDs was not as easy as I had hoped.
One of the main reasons I got this Philips HDTV-ready LCD TV was for watching progressive scan DVDs from my Philips DVD player. Turns out you cannot just hook up the component/RGB connections and put your DVD player into progressive scan mode.
I had to call Philips (and was able to get through without hassle) and was told the only way to view DVDs in progressive scan mode on this TV is by hooking up to the TV through the VGA connection. After searching on the Internet I found a great outfit (AVD Gear) that had the component/RGB-to-VGA cable I needed. (Radio Shack did not have the cable and said the only way it would work was with a $100 conversion device.)
When making the video connection using this method, you also need a special hookup for audio. I had to get a RCA audio (red/white) to mini jack cable too. (Again, thanks to AVD Gear.)
Now, with all the correct special cables, the progressive scan DVD playback is amazing on this TV.
I just wish Philips has been more clear in their product specifications and user manual out the need for this special hookup. I don't know why they make it so difficult. One would think that one of the main reasons someone would want a HDTV ready TV would be for progressive scan DVD playback.
I have not bothered to order HDTV through my cable company yet because I don't watch that much TV, and would want a larger primary TV first, but this unit that I use in a bedroom works very nice with DVDs now that everything it set correctly. Regular TV viewing is just okay.
The user guide is also lacking on details about all the different picture modes (widescreen, fullscreen, 4.3, 16.9, zoom, super zoom) but if you play around with it, you can find a picture that suites you for whatever particular viewing you are watching. The remote is sort of lacking also. It only works with the TV. The remote that came with my other Philips TV allows me limited control of the DVD player and VCR also.
I would recommend the unit (and the Outlet purchase option I used), but just be ready to order your special cables! Once you do get it working with progressive scan DVDs, the picture is pretty amazing.
