(More customer reviews)I purchased a Sony KDL 37M4000 after doing quite a bit of research on 720p LCD TVs. It was the largest size that would fit an existing cabinet, and I'm not a gamer, so I didn't need the 1080p XBR6 for quite a bit more money. I have it hooked up to a Comcast HD Cable Box and a Sony PS3 Gamestation for Blu-Ray discs.
The picture is excellent, particularly in the vivid mode for sports and concerts. It can also easily be calibrated using the remote menu settings to give you exactly what you may be looking for. The blu-ray discs are fabulous at 1080i, but frankly, the Standard Definition DVDs show almost as well at 480p. Also, contrary to what I've read about some LCD TV's, the viewing angle is extremely broad; there is not a significant loss of content from anywhere in the room where the TV is located. I am using component video inputs rather than HDMI inputs, and I have purchased a couple of HDMI connectors which I will eventually use just to see if there's any difference, but the display with component inputs is wonderful. If there is any drawback at all, it's that I can't use the TV remote or cable remote for the PS3 player, but that is a minor quibble indeed. I'd recommend this TV to anyone who wants one for around $1100.00 out the door.
